BEFORE AND AFTER
I posted this as a reminder about drugs again. I know we constantly hear about certain issues over and over again, and this is one of them, but this is a subject that has to be constantly repeated.
These pictures are of meth users.
Meth is a drug that affects the central nervous system by stimulating it, and with continual use, the dosages must be increased in order for the user to feel the effects of it.
Habitual users experience paranoia and hallucinations. The users can also experience the feeling of bugs crawling under the skin, which is the reason for the constant scratching, which eventually leads to the tearing of the skin. This drug also quenches the desire for food and the person eventually loses muscle and body fat, which gives the person that hollow facial look.

These images are from a database composed by rehabilitation centers. It is done to show the age progression and early damages that this drug causes.
The other reason that this subject should continually be discussed is because we have to be reminded of the damages it causes to the body. This is a big problem not just for the user, but for society in general. We are the ones who have to pay their medical bills, and we are the ones who have to deal with the crimes they commit, like theft to help support their habit.

So if these images do nothing but remind you of what this drug does to the body, then maybe we would seriously think long and hard about even trying it.
I'm sure these users never thought they would become drug addicts and end up looking the way they do, when they first decided to try this recreationally.

Pictures like these always give me the chills. The fact that an individual can become so dependent on a substance amazes me. It's hard to believe that these chemicals really warp the way their mind functions, practically making them completely different people. I was watching a documentary recently on Netflix called "The World's Most Dangerous Drug." Referring to crystal meth, this documentary explained the affects it can have on the body and how people who try it become addicted instantly. I can't even begin to fathom how that feels. My biggest question on the topic is how can people feel enough curiosity to try something like this? I understand the whole experimentation mentality, but I will never comprehend how a drug like this can spark someone's interest to try it.

ReplyDeleteWe have to encourage people since a low age to stop and think about the consequences that these drugs bring in their life physically and psychologically. If we warn people with its consequences I think it would get people aware and they will never would want to try this recreational drugs and end up with their life and their families lives. People who get addicted to drugs not only affect themselves but also the people around them that have to deal with what they do and the outcome effects of the addiction.
ReplyDeleteSome people try it in the first place because they have nothing left in their life that they dont even care about the outcomes. This people need help and moral support in order fro them not wondering how it feels like when people take these drugs.
This was such a shocking blog. Maria you did an amazing job at using pathos in your blog. Using photographs of real life people who are addicted to meth made the blog even more interesting and attractive. We can see how meth can drastically change the physical appearance of a person in just a few years. I hope anyone who is curious about this drug changes their mind once they see the graphics.
