I chose this article because this was relevant to what we
began discussing in our class last week. The ideology behind said article deals
with the author explaining how we, as humans, are a distinctive Plaque on the
planet Earth. David Attenborough discusses that our increasing population is a
problem that must be addressed to halt any problems that might arise as time
elapses in order to help preserve our resources and increase the quality of
living.. In class, we were told to discuss an Epidemic as a group along with
the directions to take in hopes of amending the situation. The group I am a
part of, we chose to discuss Teen Pregnancy. As many of the ideas that were
shared amongst us were rather valid, my personal solution deals in parallel
with that of Attenborough. I have intrinsically believed that a rational step
to take would be to allow unlimited access to contraceptives to all adult
females in the United States. Whether that entails Condoms, or Birth Control, I
feel that with access to both, we will only help the circumstances of the
problem we have created; over population. I am aware that the Tax-payers might
be in opposition to my solution, but the rewards will be exponentially better.
The immediate, and often utilized solution, is education. I completely agree
with that approach, but I feel the anecdotal evidence is enough to support my
hopes of allow unlimited access to contraceptives. In turn, we may very well
limit our population that is expanding by an insidious degree.
