On Tuesday, January 22nd, a man showed up at a Papa John's restaurant in Montana with a knife and the intention of robbing the restaurant. The man walked up to the cashier and told him to empty the register. As the worker emptied the register the robber began to cry. He explained to the clerk that he really needed the money to feed his wife and children who were extremely hungry. The man did not want t rob the restaurant but faced a difficult decision when he couldn't afford to feed his family. As he calmed down, the clerk began talking to him. The mans change of heart inspired the worker to make him a free pizza along with some hot wings so that he could feed his family.
This is a great story that I'm sure has touched a lot of people's hearts. It makes you realize that a lot of the crimes we experience today deal with the fact that people feel they have no other option. If we were to attack the issue of poverty in our world and, to an extent, solve it we would gradually solve a lot of other issues in the world. Issues such as hunger, crime rates, and unemployment, which cannot be solved without a solution for poverty. If everyone were given an equal chance to succeed it would solve most of the issues we still today are trying to solve and, although it sounds impossible to fix these issues entirely, it helps if we all do our part.

I read this article and it was a great story. I believe that indeed, we have crimes caused by desperate people who only steal to feed themselves and/or their families. However, stealing isn't the answer. I think that if we were to show more compassion towards people, crime would be reduced significantly due to the fact that people would now know that we can count on each other if we ever need help. Therefore, poverty cannot be eliminated, but if each citizen engages in the community, more and more and more people would stop stealing because they would have someone they can count on.
ReplyDeleteGreat story :)
Nice story! I hadn't heard this story before and I love it. I agree that if we work on solving a couple of key issues many more would fall away. Very touching and inspiring.
