When a person thinks of an alcoholic, the first thing that does not come to their mind is being a role model. Well in this article, an alcoholic actually became a role model. In the town of Dudley, the residents were highly concerned with the problem of alcohol abuse among young people. The author of this article had ideas for the community, but they just had to go through the steps needed for this change to happen. That is when he met a man that was a former alcoholic that shared his thoughts and experiences with the team of volunteers. His plan was to speak to the young people in the community. The team of volunteers created a campaign called "Young People Speak Out: Alcohol What's the Attraction." This was not lecture based; it was a debate that young people could speak their minds from both sides of the argument.

All it takes is one person to come out and help the community change their problem. When young people are told to not drink, not to do drugs they usually do not listen. It takes someone with former experience to make an impact due to the fact that they know how it feels to go through the problem whether it is drugs or alcohol or anything. I found this blog interesting because it kind of goes with the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover.” I liked the fact that a man wanted to help the young people in his community, he did not just sit back and watch. This team went through the steps of making a change by acknowledging the problem and brainstorming ideas that could help. The campaign was just the first small step to this, but even though it was a small step it still got young people to come out and participate.
