Connecticut governor signs sweeping gun limits into law

We all remember the day of  December 14 of last year when a terrific massacre in Connecticut took place taking the lives of 20 kids and 6 teachers. Sandy Hook Elementary school  wasn't the same anymore after a man with a gun shot these 20 kids and 6 teachers . Today Gov. Dannel P. Malloy signed a law that states that everyone who wants a gun will be required to go through an extensive background check and some guns will be banned from the state. Some of the victims families were present when the signing of this new law occurred and they were there to support each other and to somehow make sure their kids deaths don't go unpunished.
But I wonder if this will stop criminals, murderers, and thieves. Governor Malloy feels that this will prevent future incidents like the one at Sandy Hook but it might also be a way for criminals or murderers to find another way of hurting people and or even killing. My concern isn't the fact that they will be more careful with the people who buy guns, but to those who buy them, my question would be why. If Connecticut is trying to prevent crimes from occurring by a person with a gun, then why would other people still be able to buy them just because they pass the background check? Why would they need them?
Ron Pariseau from Pomfret Center said that they are "trying to write laws that are sensitive" since he felt like it wasn't fair that he'd have to register any weapons he owns that are no longer allowed in Connecticut. One thing he said and I agreed with is that this won't stop anything. I don't think that these new law will prevent crime and murders. Who knows, criminals might get smarter and find new ways.
I feel like this was the government's way of "relieving those victim's families". But that is just my opinion, I liked the article but I feel like this won't solve the problem, this would just tense things and make things worst. Not everyone was happy with this decision and I believe that banning guns wont stop criminals. Its like thinking that just because they will make it almost impossible for them to get guns they will be disarmed. Let's not forget that the use of guns isn't the only way someone can commit a crime. We as citizens should be more focused on being good citizens rather than getting weapons to "protect ourselves".

  1. I agree to the fact that harsher gun laws will not diminish the amount of senseless killings in America today. If you outlaw the guns then only the outlaws will have them. Does anybody actually think that stiffer laws on law abiding citizens will deter non law abiding citizens from doing what they want. Of course not, these are the people that go beyond the law to get their weapons so no matter what kind of laws there are will not affect them what so ever. What really happens is that "big brother" uses this topic to further their stronghold on Americans civil rights while at the same time strengthening theirs. Why is it that people cant see the governments only purpose is to please themselves and their wallets while using innocent americans to do it. do you think any of the politicians in washington are worried about paying their mortgage or their student loan payment? Are they worried about their retirement or ours? Why is that most people in washington dc politics are millionaires? Its called washing each others backs and taking care of their own. Whoever has the most money can set the laws for todays government and the people in it. WAKE UP PEOPLE!
